We're proudly based within the Geneva Graduate Institute, combining its resources and donor funding to address key trade policy challenges.

Joan Okitoi-Heisig is the Communications Officer and Project Manager for Capacity Building at the Geneva Trade Platform. She produces content across the Platform’s social media channels and during events, with a particular focus on making international trade law and trade policy more accessible to wider audiences.
Driven by a love of digital storytelling, Joan enjoys bringing trade discussions to life through near real-time coverage of Geneva Trade Platform’s flagship event, Geneva Trade Week, held alongside the WTO Public Forum. She is often found behind the camera - or in front of it- conducting video interviews with participants and stakeholders as a two-woman production team.
Alongside her communications work, Joan manages a capacity-building initiative supporting the Permanent Mission of Timor-Leste to the World Trade Organization. The project helps strengthen the Mission’s engagement in WTO negotiations and decision-making through targeted institutional support and access to technical expertise.
A storyteller at heart and an active Toastmasters member, Joan believes that complex ideas have the greatest impact when they are communicated clearly, accessibly, and with purpose.
We will do our best to respond to any and all enquiries promptly and look forward to hearing from you.
